Local Attractions


This picturesque, hilltop town is 1.6km from Casa Principessa. It has a cafe, bank, restaurant, laundry, tennis court, butcher, bakery and supermarket. Market day is Tuesday. Often this tiny town becomes the bustling location for the Formaggi D’Autore , the Cheese Festival of the Slow Food Italy movement (see main pic).


The larger, charming spa town of Sarnano is a 10 min drive from Casa Principessa and offers a complete range of services. It is home to the famous Fonte San Giacomo, a health spa with mineral spring water and a range of health/beauty treatments. Sarnano is one of the few towns in Le Marche with a preserved medieval town centre. Market day is Thursday. The Mostra Mercato is held in May/June – a celebration of art, craft and antiques; August is the time of the annual Palio. Don’t forget to look for the porchetta van – a treat not to be missed!


The Roman ruins of the antique town of Urbisaglia are found along the road to Macerata. They include a magnificent amphitheatre which, during the summer months, stages a Greco-Roman theatre festival.
